Family Of Chicago Hate Crime Victim Break Their Silence

Last week, the country was sickened when a video was posted on Facebook Live showing four black thugs brutally torturing a white, mentally disabled teenager while screaming things like “f*ck Donald Trump” and “f*ck white people!”

In the days since this awful hate crime was committed, over $141,000 was raised for the 18 year-old victim, who has only been identified by his first name of Austin, through a GoFundMe set up in his honor. Now, Austin’s family has broken their silence to thank everyone for their support.

“We are so extremely grateful for the support and generosity from everyone. We cannot put into words how touching and encouraging it is to Austin and our family to see what great hearts so many people have,” his family said in a statement, according to Daily Mail.

The page was started by RB Sheldon from San Francisco, who decided to set it up after seeing the “horrific torture and trauma inflicted” on Austin, who suffers from both schizophrenia and attention deficit disorder.

“For those of you that have seen the horrific torture and trauma recently inflicted on a young man in Chicago, it is not something you will soon forget,” the campaign stated. “The perpetrators have been apprehended and hopefully swift justice will be served.”

Jordan Hill, 18; Tesfaye Cooper, 18; and sisters Brittany, 18, and Tanishia Covington, 24, were all arrested last week and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated battery and a hate crime. A judge denied them bail last week, calling them all a “danger to society.”

Please continue to send your prayers to Austin as he recovers from this traumatic event!
